For many people, it is their sole place of residence and so it becomes their home, although they do not legally own or rent it. Both the care that people receive and the premises are regulated. Patient requests for basic care are often delayed or altogether forgotten, and some staff unapologetic to defiant when tasks are finally carried out. The excuse always given is that they are understaffed, but I find this ironic because my father is paying cash for care here and it is $450 per day. While the staff often tries to please patients, there ability to do so is lacking. The meals consist almost exclusively of canned and frozen side dishes, and only the most inexpensive cuts and preparations of meat, poultry and fish. The portion sizes do appear to be adequate, and staff courteous. All in all, Morningside is a very average nursing home.

The bed was too high and she could not climb back in after managing to get off on her own. I truly hope that when she does get her room on the Alzheimer's floor that they tend to her the way she needs to be. Until then I give this place zero stars and do not recommend to anyone. We saw that people were offered a choice of meal for lunch, which was hot, well presented and appetizing. The catering staff were wearing appropriate clothing in the kitchen and the chef was carrying out daily temperature checks of the hot food.

The service has two units, one with 27 beds which provides nursing care to older people and the other with 25 beds which provides intermediate care and rehabilitation. There were 52 people living at the home when we visited. This unannounced inspection took place on 21 December 2018.

Staff received training, support and supervision to provide effective care to people and to carry out their duties effectively. People had access to healthcare services they needed to maintain good health. The provider had arrangements and systems in place to ensure people received well-coordinated care and support. People were protected against the risk of avoidable harm and abuse. Staff were aware of the different types of abuse and the appropriate process in reporting concerns of alleged abuse.
People’s care was planned and delivered in a way that met people’s individual needs. The provider involved other healthcare professionals in the planning and coordination of people’s care and treatment. People were supported appropriately to achieve their goals through rehabilitation programmes. People were supported to take part in activities at the service and in the community. People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice. People gave consent to the care and support they received.
The home cares for elderly including people with learning disabilities. Additionally, the residency is able to support people with dementia and physical disabilities. There was a range of quality assurance systems in place to identify, assess and monitor the quality of service provided.
They have the gym and other rooms for other activities. My sister was in a wheelchair for a while, but now she is walking with a walker. I didn't get to mingle too much with the staff, but I was in the dining room when my sister was eating, and the staff was very good. Most of the people were foreigners, but they were very nice, very clean, and very good with the residents. The dining room is very small, they don't have too many people in there.
There were sufficient staff to meet people’s needs and recruitment checks were conducted before new staff were employed. Care homes are regulated by independent Inspectorates in each country of the UK, subject to periodic inspections and awarded quality grades. One, Rego Park Nursing Home in Queens, recorded 24 violations, for incomplete inspections, missed cleanings and inadequate monitoring, among other infractions.
They help her with cooking and cleaning and things like bathing and taking her pills. It's good because she doesn't have to drive and there are her friends there. The people that worked there seemed to be doing it for good reasons. My father-in-law had stayed at Amsterdam Nursing Home.
